Suspected bandits broke into the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) staff quarters early Tuesday, attacked the staff, and kidnapped four staff members to an unknown location.

The university’s spokesman, Habib Yakoob, confirmed the incident in a statement and said the school is still looking for the people who were kidnapped.

“Suspected bandits attacked the University’s staff quaters in the early hours of today,” the statement reads (Tuesday). Our safety officers, along with security personnel, were dispatched to secure the premises.

“However, we have received reports that four of our employees, along with their children, were kidnapped by the evil men. Efforts are being made to ensure that they arrive safely. This is a very sad day for us.”

There have previously been incidents and records of bandit activities within the school, which have caused fear and anxiety among the school’s staff and students.
