After suffering a heart problem while playing for Barcelona recently, Sergio Aguero is considering his playing future.

According to a Catalan radio station, the Argentine, who was forced off the field, may still retire because the situation is more complicated than initially thought.

Aguero recently underwent tests as a result of his heart problem, and the results revealed that he would not be able to continue as a professional.

Last month, the 33-year-old was taken to hospital after being forced off 42 minutes into his first home start for Barcelona against Alaves due to breathing problems.

After colliding with an opponent in the penalty area, the former Manchester City star appeared to be struggling towards the end of the first half, laying down. He was able to quickly get back on his feet and walk away.

Jose Alvarez Haya, the host of El Chiringuito, later revealed that his heart rate was much higher than it should have been.

“The player Kun Agüero has undergone a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure by Dr. Josep Brugada,” Barcelona said in a statement following the incident.

“He’s out, and the effectiveness of the treatment will be assessed over the next three months to determine his recovery process.”

After being taken to the hospital, Aguero said: “I’m feeling good and ready to start the recovery process. I’d like to express my gratitude to you all for the many messages of support and love that have helped to strengthen my heart today.”
