Dowen College: Parents Forum Holds Candlelight Procession for Sylvester Oromoni
On the evening of Wednesday, December 8, the Dowen College parent’s forum joined together to perform a candlelight parade for the late Sylvester Oromoni.
The gathering took place at the school gate in the Lekki neighborhood of Lagos, with parents flocking out in large numbers to pay their respects to the deceased child.
The candlelight march paid tribute to Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old boy who died on November 30 after being allegedly abused by seniors in his dormitory and forced to swallow a dangerous drug.
When a cousin of late Sylvester released videos of the child groaning in pain moments before his death, word of this heinous crime spread like wildfire.
This sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many accusing the school of being complicit in the cover-up.
Following that, the hashtag #JusticeforSylvester began trending on social media, with a demand that the perpetrators of the heinous act be brought to justice.
