Okorocha lost the ownership of Mbadiwe University to Imo state government
Rochas Okorocha, the former governor of Imo state, has lost the battle for ownership of Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University in Ogboko to the Imo state government.
The controversy was finally put to rest on December 9 when the National Universities Commission handed over the university’s operating certificate to Imo State through Governor Hope Uzodimma (NUC).
While presenting the certificate to the governor at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, NUC Executive Secretary Prof Abubakar Rasheed said it would put an end to the dispute between the former Governor and the state government over ownership of the institution.
“The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) are being notified of this development by a copy of this letter,” Rasheed said.
Governor Uzodinma was also assured by the NUC Secretary that the commission is ready to assist the state in its educational progress.
